SALT ASHES – Cut You With A Kiss

Hotly tipped London-based alt-pop/electronic artist SALT ASHES has released the highly-anticipated ‘Cut You With A Kiss’; the latest product of her mission to bring a refreshing and dark edge to the world of dance music. ‘Cut You With A Kiss’ is about questioning the integrity of someone’s new girlfriend and believing that she isn’t good for them,’ says Salt Ashes about the new track. ‘It’s a dark place where honesty gets confused for jealousy so maybe these things shouldn’t be said out loud. [UK Artist] Maddox Jones and I wrote the chorus for this in my bedroom and I fell in love with the catchiness of it straight away. I wrote the rest of the song.’

Harry Jay-Steele – Not Quite Like This

East London based songwriter, guitarist and producer Harry Jay-Steele shares ‘Not Quite Like This’ – another cut from his upcoming debut album, ‘Boundaries’ due for release on 4th December. Recorded with Jordan Rakei’s co-producer and drummer Jim Macrae, the song is heavily influenced Afrobeats and tackles personal experiences close to the artist. ‘It’s a song in defiance against being labelled and judges but also about the fluidity of self’, explains Harry – a message amplified by the shifting effect of the artist’s auto-tuned vocals. Explaining the production work behind the track, ‘I used auto-tune on this track partly because it’s Afrobeats influence but also due to the chameleon-like tonal affect it has one my voice. I felt its shifting nature sat well with lyrical message.’
