Breaking New Ground: Pangaia Unveils First-Ever Denim Jacket Created with Nucycl

Pangaia, a materials science company, is set to launch its latest eco-friendly innovation in partnership with Evrnu’s NuCycl on February 16. The new product is a denim jacket called ‘Renu’ that is made entirely from cotton textile waste using the NuCycl fiber, which is made from pre- and post-consumer textile waste. This marks Pangaia’s first denim product created from such textile waste and the first made entirely from NuCycl.

Evrnu’s NuCycl is a powerful solution for textile waste diversion and reduces the fashion industry’s reliance on cotton, MMCF, nylon, and polyester. This fiber is up to four times stronger than other cellulosic fibers, including cotton and most MMCF. It can also be recycled up to five times without any loss in performance or quality. Unlike mechanically recycled cotton, NuCycl doesn’t need to be blended with any virgin fiber, and it allows more recycling cycles, making it a significantly less resource-intensive alternative to cotton or polyester.

Dr. Amanda Parkes, Chief Innovation Officer at Pangaia, said, “Evrnu represents the very best of innovation, in the space of recycled fibers. We have been on a long journey together as partners and we are delighted to be bringing out our first product together, demonstrating the extraordinary potential for superior quality from recycling technologies.”

The ‘Renu’ jacket, which is limited edition, will be available for purchase for $400 USD on Pangaia.com from February 16. The partnership between Pangaia and Evrnu’s NuCycl highlights the importance of creating sustainable products by utilizing materials already in circulation, reducing waste, and promoting a circular economy.
