Ninja Evangelista is a Fashion Accessory Designer, who also happens to be the brains and beauty behind DELA EVA. DELA EVA is a luxury leather handbag and accessory brand that will also be showing at Nolcha Shows in New York during fashion week this September.

At just 18 Ninja left school and went around 5 continents, 42 countries to see what more the world had to offer her. With that priceless experience ticked off her bucket list, Ninja moved to our beautiful city of London to start her brand DELA EVA. Ninja shares her trials, tribulations and triumphs with us, ahead of the Nolcha Shows.

A few words to describe the collection that you will be showing at Nolcha this season.

We will present our core collection “Theatre of Dreams”, which is inspired by the power of our dreams with some new colours and as a surprise we will also present some new amazing accessories. I don’t want to give away too much now but the products will transform you and take you to a modern fairy tale.

You left school at 18 and took some time out to travel. Did you always know that you were eventually going to become a designer?

I always knew that I wanted to become a designer one-day. Being a designer, creating and putting my visions into reality is my passion and path and I really cannot imagine doing anything else. Just before my 18th Birthday I made a Bucket list with the things I wanted to experience and achieve before fully dedicating my life building my own brand. Travelling at that time was the top priority on the list as travelling widens your horizon and frees your mind. It educates you on so many different levels in life to experience different places, see the art treasures of this world and learn about the history, the people and the different cultures. Summing up I want to emphasise that the rich experience I made during all my travels is definitely one of the main inspirations for me as a designer and that is also embedded in the story of DELA ÉVA.

Were there any doubts from yourself or anyone else when you made the decision to become a designer?

I never really had any doubts about wanting to go down the route of becoming a fashion designer. From people close to me, there weren’t really any doubts when I told them about my plan. They were a bit concerned in the beginning, because everyone in the fashion industry knows how hard and difficult it is to build a brand – it is a long path with many hurdles and reward is only earned at the far end. I would be lying if I told you that everything is going smooth and according to plan at the moment. It has not been an easy ride and we are facing new challenges every day. However I believe in my dream and in fact creating my designs and being able to share my vision is what I really want to do. This gives me the drive and the motivation to go forward and together with my amazing team we are creating something special every day.

What are you going to be doing to celebrate and reward yourself after showing your collection at Nolcha?

Being part of the Nolcha Shows and the opportunity to showcase during New York Fashion Week is already the best reward for our hard work and a huge accomplishment for us. We will use this fantastic opportunity at Nolcha in New York to further promote and build our brand and will keep up the momentum to gain new opportunities within the industry.
