Demur Decks 11.02.18 by Mia Seabrook

You Boy –  Delaire

First up on the Demur Decks this week is Delaire, the woman who has been on everyone’s radar since her gorgeous BBC Maida Vale session last year. This track features her iconic melodic and sultry vocals combined with a soft synth lead backing track. ‘You Boy’ is all about failing for someone and it’ll have you falling for it after one play.

Familiar – San Scout

This new track from San Scout is perfect for those movie moments; those train journeys when you sit and stare out the window and have your life perfectly summed up and soundtracked by the song ringing out in your headphones. In those moments, you need to listen to this song and appreciate the reflective lyrics.

Feel Like A Fool – :PM

Who doesn’t love a boy band? Especially a northern boy band? While there are many popping up on the scene at the moment :PM have something a little different about them that, while it’s hard to pinpoint, we just know it’s definitely there. With the release of “Feel Like A Fool” they have proved there is only one direction they’re going, and it’s up.

What About It? – Sam Sure

This new track from south Londoner singer-songwriter has Mura Masa vibes all over it with a softer touch. Using elements of synth for his track, Sam has added a slightly more poppy overtone to this track and it’s come together perfectly. This is the first of many singles we will be hearing on repeat from Sam this year so jump on the bandwagon early.

Problems ft. Lido – Petit Biscuit

Here is the official video for this banger from Petit Biscuit. After producing a series of brilliant tracks last year, it is no shock that Petit’s videos are of the same kind of calibre to his music. Shot in the city at night, the video demonstrates stories of love and friendship, proving that it’s all about electricity….

I’m Not Looking – Goldsmoke

Future soul – I wasn’t sure of this as a genre before I heard this, but if everything sounds like this then I’m certainly a fan. Loaded with upbeat grooves and soulful vocals that’ll get your head bopping along, Goldsmoke have turned up the heat on 2018. Keep an eye out for these brothers this year because they’re destined for grove fueled greatness.

Mate – Airways

These boys are on my ones to watch for this year. They’ve proved that they can write a brilliant indie hit and that never fails to put a smile on my face. With true-to-life lyrics, gritty vocals and a great guitar lead it’s hard to find fault in ‘Mate’.

Stupid Things – Whinnie Williams

The girl that doesn’t stop is back. This time with the release of the official video for ‘Stupid Things’ Live At The Pool sessions. Yet again Whinnie showcases her unparalleled talent and silky smooth vocals in this seamlessly shot video.

Dead To Me – Modern Me

‘Dead To Me’ comes from across the pond in sunny San Diego. Harnessing what it is to be an American indie band, Modern Me have changed it up a little and personally, I think it’s great. Heavy on the distortion with moody vocals, this track slides effortlessly into the indie scene we’ve seen on the rise here recently.
