Demur Decks 16.04.2018 by Sam Calver

Having performed to almost 20,000 people during 2017, Sam Calver has steadily been building a loyal following in his hometown of Hastings over the last year- gaining the support of BBC Introducing in the process. Sam has taken over our Demur Decks for this week.

Nothing’s Changed – Isaac Waddington

The super slick vocals and production remind me of a young UK version of Allen Stone. The kind of music you’d stumble across in a jazz bar in New York, Love it! Sick video too wish I was there looks fun!

Chemicals – ANML

This is totally wonky but really cool, very artistic and creative. Not conforming at all, lush string sections to distorted bass, choirs and taiko drums. MASSIVE!

Your Hearts Afloat – Harlequiin

This feels really old school but with a stylish tastemaker kick to it. Lots going on with it but it’s different, very cool!

Project X – ABISHA

Proper smooth and sexy vocals on this with a deep low-end kick! Great melodies and some quirky electronic sounds creeping in and out. I’d love to hear what this sounds like stripped back on a piano.

Man on Fire – Doktor

Somebody book me a holiday! This is a proper summer vibe, great melodies super hooky and fun. The drawing effect on the video is great too. I want to listen to this in a beach bar with a cold beer.

Problems ft Lido (Shallou Remix) – Petit Biscuit

Huge track! Didn’t expect anything less with Lido involved that guy is an absolute genius! Sick remix from Shallou, great vocal delivery and melody, laid back and effortlessly cool. The halftime change halfway through is a right bit of me, sick vibes.

Leave A Light On (Cheat Codes Remix) – Tom Walker

These guys are on fire at the minute! Tom’s original track is amazing anyway but with Cheat Codes in the mix it’s even bigger. They’ve taken a very heartfelt track and taken it into summer, genius! This will sound huge in the club!

Sam Calver’s new single ‘Don’t Tell Me You Love Me’ is out now

Buzzing to finally release this track. It’s been two years in the making and is my favourite track to date. Usually, you get tired of hearing your own songs after a while but this one is really special to me, and just has such a euphoric vibe to it. I hope you all love it as much as I do.
