They have opened for the likes of Grandmaster Flash, Disclosure and Bondax so of course, they are the perfect people to take over our decks this week. TWOGOOD (Tom and Jon) are still buzzing from the success of their latest release ‘Raindrops’ the track which came about after the pair decided to take some dodgems for a spin a festival. Here’s the Bristol-based duo’s selections for this week.
Lack Of Afro – Back In Business
What a hook! One of those songs that is impossible to get out of your head after just one listen. Slap bass, broken beat, 90’s hip-hop rap style vocals. What’s not to like?
AZTX – My Song ft. Blakey
Big fan of ATZX’s production on this. The nice airy pads and crisp finger snaps are enough to compliment any sunset scenario.
Parallax – Round & Round Ft Rakaa Iriscience
Loving the hazy chords on this one. The shimmering wind chimes also help the track drift along effortlessly. The perfect UK Hip-hop summer roller.
Ta’Shan – Foodie
Needless to say…we are both full-time foodies. Not only do we enjoy its message, “screw it, I’m having a second helping”, it oozes sex appeal. The track also seems to be heavily influenced by Eve’s 90’s RnB classic, “Who’s That Girl”.
Sons Of Bill – Believer / Pretender
The Sons have really nailed it here! Reverbed vocals and steady drums bring with it a mood of reflection of good times that have passed.
John Prine – Knockin’ On Your Screen Door
Secretly, we’re actually both suckers of a bit of country music. Off-beat banjo strums, bluesy acoustic guitar solos, bassy southern vocals – everything you need to make you feel like you are sat in the back of an old pickup truck chewing on a piece of straw.
Alejandro Escovedo – Sonica USA
This track takes us both straight back to long hours spent on GTA: San Andreas! The heavily buzzed guitar solos and on-beat snare action is something straight out of K-DST!
