Demur Decks 24.09.18 by The Riptide Movement

When we first heard the environmentally focused track ‘Plastic Oceans’ by The Riptide Movement, we knew there was something eclectically cool and different about these four handsome environmentally friendly lads from Ireland. TRM have been spreading their sound further throughout the UK and beyond and this week we have them taking over our Demur Decks sharing with us their favourite new releases.

Praa – Y

We can hear some Portishead vibes alright. We liked the chorus and the breakdown part, she’s got a cracking voice, reminds us of 90’s R-n-B too.

Hero Fisher – If I Die Nothing Happens

The weirder, the better, kept us interested with the chorus and the lyrics and odd ball video, interesting music.

Little Simz – Offence

We quite like the odd background sounds and vibe, the attitude comes across too in the song which we like, thought some of the lines were very smart.

Somedays – When We Left

Big Later Strokes vibe going on which we can never turn down as we love that band. Good singing and music, nice vibe, would defo listen again.

Doe Paoro – Cage of Habits

Really cool upbeat vibe really like it (she looks a bit like Courtney Love!)

The Villagers – Real Go Getter

It’s another good tune from the villagers, it’s got a great vibe too it. We love the production on it, there’s a lot going on sonically, a lot of textures and the lyrics are good, we are getting a ‘Badly Drawn Boy’ vibe off of it.

Lana Del Rey – Venice Bitch

This is another good tune from Lana Del Rey, she’s a got quirky vibe to her tunes and this one’s no different, we like her Nancy Sinatra style of vocal and her voice is as good as ever on this tune, the production is great. There are some cool sounds in there, yeah…a nice, chilled tune.

Wolf Alice – Don’t Delete the Kisses

It’s a great tune, it’s got a cool dream pop vibe to it that reminds us of ‘Beach House’ or ‘Au Revoir Simone’, it’s got a good beat too and there are some nice sounds going on here in the production, her lyrics are great too. Great song!!!
