This week we have one of New Zealand’s most exciting new music acts taking over our decks, Theia- aka Em-Haley Walker. With the release of her latest track ‘Bad Idea’ this Friday, it only felt right to have her sharing with us some of her favourite recent releases.
King Princess- Make My Bed
Harmonies! Emotion! This tune is nostalgic, timeless and really hits you where it hurts. King Princess is the Queen!
Christine and the Queens- Doesn’t Matter
If St Vincent and Haim had a musical child, it would be this track. It’s a mixture of attitude and sass, with kooky chill.
Angus and Julia Stone- Nothing Else
Dark and brooding – this Angus and Julia songs feels like it’s straight out of a Netflix doco about an obscure cult living in the Arizona desert.
Let’s Eat Grandma- I Will be Waiting
This song is solemn and sad, with a childlike innocence. It takes you straight back to high school and all those feelings of vulnerability come flooding back.
Mormor – Heaven’s Only Wishful
“Close your eyes and see it through… Chaos comes and collects the youth” It’s a lyrical gem and a super cool groove. Love the androg vocal.
Royaume – Again
This cinematic track gives me Dua Lipa vibes with a Fleetwood Mac kick. It’s the perfect driving song for a moment you hit the open road.
