Saturday night saw another gem of an evening at Brighton’s Green Door Store with Island Club Presents. This is an event that has been run a few times by headliners, Island Club showcasing the best of emerging artists.
First on stage were Latenight Honeymoon with a shoegaze sound that totally encapsulated their aesthetic and name. Then there was Indigo Husk, coming down from London for the show and bringing their all. With the atmosphere in Green Door already buzzing, it was getting pretty cosy in the magical little venue. Saying this, it didn’t stop Indigo Husk from stirring the crowd up as everyone began to boogie. If you have the chance to, go catch these boys at a gig next year you’d be a fool not to go.
With Indigo Husks’ set over, everyone headed to the bar and to meet the boys while I watched Island Club set up. Ready for their set, the venue packed out again and I was in prime position to get the full “Island Club experience” – it was banging. With a few technical errors that frontman Michael laughed off out the way, they jumped into a set that they absolutely smashed. Oozing energy, charisma and confidence, Island Club played as if it were effortless. They have perfected the synth-pop sound with truly unique vocals that make them equally catchy and unforgettable.
