At 21 Jerry Williams has already been in the music biz for 9 years having penned her first song at 12. Jerry has played at various festivals including the V Festival. The past year has been especially epic for Jerry with the release of her ‘Let’s Just Forget It’ EP and her upcoming performance at this year’s BBC Introducing on 22nd November. With all that in mind, we wanted to know the songs that made Jerry’s year of 2017 so special.
First song you remember hearing in 2017?
The first song I remember hearing which had an impact on me was Praying by Kesha. The first time I heard it, it just took my breath away and made me go all goosebumpy haha. And then when that extra high note came in at the end I was like ‘that’s it, I’m done, I’m sold’. Amazing song.
The song that sums up this year for you?
Cathy Come Home by Flyte just makes me feel really dreamy every time I hear it. So for me, this song sums up my year.
What song describes the feeling you felt when you were confirmed for the SXSW lineup?
Black Betty by Ram Jam. I just felt super cool and ready to rockkkk haha.
What was your summer anthem this year?
Brazil by Declan McKenna. It’s sunshine in a song.
What song did you constantly have on repeat this year?
I am one of those people who will listen to a song for about 2 weeks on repeat haha. The one I definitely had on repeat for ages was Undertow by Alvvays. All the guitars and synths are so swirly and warming, they just send me into a trance.
What song will you use to close out this year?
If you mean in terms of ending the year with a party, my party song is Nobody to Love by Sigma. Reminds me of all the other New Years I’ve had and I just want to dance to it.
