SLO (Jess Mills) has served us with a powerful 4 track EP, “Atone”.
Alongside previously released tracks, SLO has reworked two new tracks on to the EP, “Birds In A Cage” and “Said And Done”. The “Atone” EP has been a work in progress for over a year and you can certainly hear this in the quality of the finished product.
SLO’s beautiful soul is not just exposed in her music. SLO is also an integral and influential member of leading refugee crisis charity Help Refugees. The charity, founded by Radio X presenter Lliana Bird, writer and TV presenter Dawn OPorter, activist and comedian Heydon Prowse (BBC’s The Revolution Will Not Be Televised) and friend Josie Naughton, work to raise funds and collect goods in response to the current refugee crisis. The charity have built over 1500 shelters at the time of writing and sent over 40 arctic lorries full of aid across Europe,
SLO says “This EP is reaches back to the archives of unhappier times, but it also makes peace with a lot of the past too. Letting go doesn’t come easily to me – so this in itself feels like progress.” SLO performs “Atone”, in her subtle, sultry vocals with an R&B flare. One thing is for sure, “Atone” will be on repeat for while over here.
