You know that moment you are in the club and a song you like comes on and you don’t know who sings it, so you open up Shazam. What do you do then when you see a piece of art and you are just eager to find who created this masterpiece? Fear not there is Smartify. Smartfiy is the app that gives you information about a piece of art by just scanning the art piece with your smartphone. The Smartfiy app was launched last month at the Royal Academy of Arts and has already been dubbed as “a Shazam for the art world”. Smartify is already in use in over 30 of the world’s major galleries and museums, including the National Gallery in London, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, The Met in New York and LACMA in Los Angeles. Not only does the app offer you information about the artists, but you can also access recorded interviews with some of the artists available on the app making it a great companion on your next trip to the art gallery. You can also save and share with other Smartify users your favourite pieces.
