Monti is an artist who has overcome a lot to get to where she is today. Using her wounds as wisdom and stimulus, Monti is giving us no excuses to wallow in self-pity.
Born into an abusive broken home filled with drugs and alcoholism, Monti was a runaway who dodged foster care systems living off and on the streets, escaping a life of gangs, mental hospitals, group homes, and drug and alcohol abuse. Her turbulent past is brilliantly conveyed in her debut song Echo with moody synths and electro-pop.
The visuals released last year are engaging and equally inspiring. They tell a story through the eyes of Fashion Design student Reggie Snowden who has to get, up early mornings each day to take buses and trains from Inglewood to North Hollywood, Ca to travel to and from school. All the while still juggling graveyard night shifts for work each evening. Reggie was given a budget camera to document his story and this is the end result.
