Do you ever wonder what your favourite song would sound like if it was sang by someone else other than your favourite artist? Double J Music presents Acoustic Covers: The Album, a collection of 20 tracks reinvented by various unsigned and established acts who have collected over 20 million plays online for their own versions of popular songs.
One of the artists featured on the compilation album is singer/songwriter John Adams who has received major support from BCC Radio 2 and can also count Ashton Kutcher as a fan. John gives us his rendition of Nelly Furtado’s classic “I’m Like A Bird” exclusively for the album. After snatching the crown for MTV’s Cover Of The Month, with 130 million votes, Emma Heesters revamps Jax Jones & Raye’s hit “You Don’t Know Me”, as well as an exclusive from social media star Rajiv Dhall with “Starboy”.
Speaking about the release, James Kinnear from Double J Music says: “What drew us to these songs is the way each of the artists transformed the originals into something completely fresh and new. To take a party track like Cheerleader, and turn it into a heartfelt piano ballad – that’s the basis of what makes this concept so special.”
Other tracks featured on the compilation include Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” and The Chainsmokers’ “Paris”, alongside classics like “Never Gonna Give You Up” and “Hey Ya”. The album also includes Jennifer Ann’s haunting cover of “Mad World”, currently featured on the Lloyds Bank TV advert.
