If you thought the “Croissant Handbag” was a flash in the pan, think again. Lidl is doubling down on its “grocery-core” aesthetic for London Fashion Week AW26, reuniting with viral avant-garde designer Nik Bentel to drop the season’s most unlikely accessory: The Trolley Bag.
Moving from the bakery to the aisles, this second collaboration proves that the “high-low” fashion movement is still the reigning champion of London street style.
Forget leather and suede; this season is all about industrial stainless steel. The Trolley Bag is a miniature architectural feat.
“There’s something so exciting about turning the most unexpected items into fashion statements,” says Nik Bentel. “It’s playful, practical, and made to stand out whether heading to the runway or just running errands.”

To celebrate the release, Lidl is hosting a ‘Fresh Drop’ pop-up in the heart of Soho. This isn’t your typical boutique experience; it’s a grocery-inspired immersive event where the bag isn’t just sold—it’s won.
Fans looking to secure the piece will have to try their luck on a custom-built ‘fruit machine’ at the venue.
Lidl’s marketing director, Joanna Gomer, notes that the bag is designed for “working the aisles,” but the cultural reality is more about the ironic luxury trend that London does better than anyone else. By merging the mundane utility of a discount supermarket with the exclusivity of a limited-edition LFW drop, Bentel and Lidl have successfully hacked the fashion calendar once again.
