Breaking Fashion

For the business-minded individuals, I’ve got you covered with an inspirational BBC show. Adam Frisby, CEO of one of Britain’s youngest fast fashion companies, started up his company, In The Style with no business experience; and no GCSE’s. In 2013, Adam had the vision to link social media, celebrities, and fast fashion together – and he did just that! But Adam didn’t just stop there. Adam gave himself the ambitious goal of launching a new collection with a different influencer every two weeks. Adam with his team travelled to places like Cannes and Ibiza to get the perfect shots for their campaigns, but would this be enough to build up his brand? Collaborating with well-known influencers such as Lorna Lux and Dani Dyer, watch as Adam exceeds his goals and change the business of the fashion world.

Styling Hollywood

Known as one of “the best celebrity-stylist reality shows,” couple Jason Bolden and Adair Curtis realised that there was a lack of black interior designers and celebrity stylists within the industry. So, they started up JSN Studio to fit right into that market, alongside their celebrity clientele. This domestic soap is full of humour, tensions, and pressures of creating famous red carpet looks, and styling the homes of some of the biggest names in Hollywood. From Taraji P. Henson to singer Eve, ‘black girl magic’ is the forefront of Jason and Adairs’ empire and a slogan used throughout the show. The diligent nature of Bolden and Curtis’ relationship will have you laughing and seriously entertained. Check out the trailer below and you will agree.

Making the Cut

Similar to Project Runway, Making the Cut is a reality TV show that brings together twelve established designers in a competition to test their design techniques and fashion business skills. What makes it different from the rest? Well, the designers are tasked with presenting how their brands will evolve, alongside the help of seamstresses who will assist the designers in bringing their ideas to life in a short timeframe showing an almost true like reflection of how an established fashion business runs with a team.

Hosted by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, this is the perfect escape during the pandemic. The show is open to contestants from all around the world; with entrepreneurs travelling from Belgium, USA and Israel, as they fight to achieve their dreams. The contestants are battling for the chance to win $1 million and an opportunity to launch an exclusive collection that will be available on the leading multinational tech company website, Amazon. Who has the “intense fire in their belly,” to make the cut? Judged by the fierce Naomi Campbell, Nicole Richie and Chiara Ferragni, veracious thoughts are spoken out loud and tough decisions are made. You can also catch Rinat Brodach who was featured in our September 2015 issue, who is on the show as one of the competing designers.
