DARKOWA Releases New Single “Searching The World 2 Find U” an Exploration of Grief and Loss.

Producer and Vocalist DARKOWA shares a brand new genre-blending single – Searching the World 2 Find U. DARKOWA’s latest release is an exploration of grief and loss, and how we have to keep going and keep moving.

She shares, “Searching the World 2 Find U was written in a stage of overflowing emotions, inspiration and musical drive. This track really means the world to me, taking me back to when I lost someone really close but infusing the sadness of the vocals with danceable drum and bass.”

Produced by Henrik the Artist, MAUD and DARKOWA, Searching The World 2 Find U portrays DARKOWA’s most sorrowful emotions in such an elegant way you can easily find yourself dancing along. She has been branching out in recent years releasing some highly creative tracks, ranging from experimental R&B to Electro-Pop and her next release again defies any specific genres. DARKOWA shares her experiences in finding her sound.

“In Oslo, there is a sense of the need to fit in, and that you have to make a certain kind of pop to be successful in music,” DARKOWA says. As the child of Ghanian parents in Norway, “I’ve always been a little different, a misfit – albeit with friends!”, she laughs. “I’m finding peace by creating my own space. I am quite reserved in person so I speak with what I create. I don’t need to say so much because I present myself differently.”

Though born and based in Oslo, Norway, DARKOWA grew up online. Now in her twenties, it’s clear that her youth wasn’t misspent. As a producer, DJ and vocalist, DARKOWA’s goth-meets-Y2K R&B aesthetic and sad, sugar-dipped sound draw from multi-layered fashions and music genres like Soundcloud rap and hyperpop. With influences such as rappers Lil Peep and Bladee of Drain Gang, and vocalists-and-producers LSDXOXO, Sega Bodega and Oklou, her style and sound feel utterly of the moment; ripe for fans of internet-generative, club-infused pop music.
