Berne – ‘To The Lions’ VIDEO
Berne have just released the incredibly picturesque video for their latest single ‘To The Lions’. Filmed on a sunny winter day in Malta, the video is filled with dreamy peach hues that lend to the idea of a beachy summer scape. The delicate editing and simplistic symmetry created throughout the track perfectly helps emulate the message;
“To The Lions is about the power of change. Society has convinced us that animals live to serve humans, but we believe it’s time to change that mindset. That’s the hope and possibility we explore on this track”.
There is something rather poignant about the release of this single, given we are currently all locked away in isolation, while mother nature slowly heals herself and returns back to the wild. We love everything about this video, track and its message, and we think you would too. Click below to give Berne and this gorgeous little video some love and while we can’t feel the sun on our faces, feel the warm hues radiate from your screens.
Rye Milligan – Silhouette
Combine low-fi, hip-hop beats with a songwriter’s brain and you have Rye Milligan. ‘Silhouette’ is dedicated to his late friend, and the track combines Ryes’ skills so harmoniously, showing how truly talented he really is. As the track bounces almost effortlessly throughout, you can hear the perfectionist in him that took almost three years to complete this track – with the end result being something that is damn near perfect. Before I tell you to go and listen to it, there is also a gorgeous video that encompasses Rye as the one-man band he truly is.
Deep Green – ‘XXL’
At the end of last year, The Guardian titled him as one of Rap’s ‘non-capital assets’ alongside the likes of Lotto Boyz, Jaykae and Nafe Smallz and now the proudly self-made, Northern Rap-King in-waiting, Deep Green, is back with a super-size ‘Trap-Hop’ offering aptly named ‘XXL’ Changing up his signature sound as he takes a break from his all-out Rap flows, Deep Green delivers the Trap-Hop smash with his deep baritone vocals and a bouncy delivery for his bars. Yet the Deep Green we all know and love comes bounding through as he keeps it 100 with his content that delves in to authentic street tales, gritty content and clever punchlines.
Midnight Vesta – I’ll Have Another
‘I’ll Have Another’ was born out of that sliver in time between a break-up and deciding that you’re worthy of love again. ‘It’s okay to look back on past relationships with a critical eye. Moments of self-reflection are healthy, but ultimately, go easy on yourself – you’ll find another’, the Midnight Vesta boys tell us. Lead singer, Peter Jarvis, wrote this song from such a deeply personal place that it felt like a moment of vulnerability on his part to make it the first song the boys finished as a band. ‘It was a gesture that said what was once his thing is now the band’s collectively, to share.’
Jacqueline Tucci – Fear
‘Fear’ is about a time in Jacqueline Tucci’s life when she felt like she was really searching for something but she didn’t know what it was. The song was born out of those feelings of restlessness and frustration. Working with producer Nops Whileway in Toronto allowed the song to take shape organically, resulting in what Jacqueline feels is its most honest realization. Sometimes we search for ourselves in various places, people, and things and end up ignoring what’s right in front of us.
