Demur Decks by Cameron Bloomfield 18.11.19
Alternative R&B artist Cameron Bloomfield is currently in double celebration mode as he has just released his latest single ‘Wanted’ and sophomore EP ‘The Morning After’.
The lead single from the latest EP, ‘Another Man’s Woman’, received the honour of a world premiere from the legendary Elton John on his ‘Rocket Hour’ radio show. Marking the second time he’s been championed by the industry veteran, following his support of the pre-EP single ‘Lazarus’.
As well as all of this, Cameron will perform live at East London venue The Old Blue Last for a headline show on 25th November. We honestly could not think of anyone better to take over our Demur Decks this week.
The Lay Down – DRAM (feat. H.E.R)
The vibe between these two is so strong. Two of my favourites at the moment coming together was always going to be good! The space this sits in sonically is right where I’m at and that bass along with the old-school feel of the drums is so satisfying.
Yah/Element (Medley) – Joy Crookes
Joy is one of the few artists on this list I have the privilege of calling a friend while being an incredible artist in her own right. This medley of two Kendrick tracks is one of my favourite things to come out this year and if you are on YouTube any time soon you should 100% check out the video she did for it as well, the visuals are clean!
Lua – Jacob Collier (feat. MARO)
Jacob Collier is undoubtedly a genius. There’s no doubt about it. This song is stunning, and MARO has the most incredible tone and phrasing, I’m all the way in love from the get go!
Burning Down The House – Flying Lotus (feat. George Clinton)
There’s not a chance that this was going to be anything less than greatness with two of the best ever coming together to do their thing. George Clinton is one of my longtime heroes and Flying Lotus is an absolute g to boot. I could’ve chosen a number of tracks from his album but this is the stand out for me!
UEMM – Rosie Lowe
This is my favourite track from her YU album which came out this year. The production manages to straddle that mad border between minimal and filling. It really leaves space for Rosie’s soulful vocal to shine through. Very special track this one!
Worship – Effie
As well as having an incredible voice and writing some killer songs, Effie is also one of my best friends. Not sure who got the better deal out of that in the long run but considering she brought this out helped by the production from Mike Keys, I’d say that I’m on the good side of it being able to bang this in the car speakers.
Eternal Light – Free Nationals (feat. Chronixx)
The Free Nationals are fast becoming one of my favourite bands going. After working extensively with Anderson .Paak they’ve pushed their own thing and this latest track with Chronixx is hitting a really good spot! The mixing of the guitars especially is really special and Chronixx tone over this vibe is a killer mix!
That Sound – Sam Fender
The rockiest selection on here, Sam Fender is one of my favourites coming up at the moment. His sound is classic British and lyrically he’s a really interesting and captivating writer. I’m really looking forward to seeing where he goes as an artist but so far this is my favourite of his – perfect for blasting down the motorway to!
