Jada Pollock, Fay Hoyte And Christel Kayibi To Lead Upcoming ‘Empowered Women In Media’ Panel Event
To celebrate this year’s Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, which is centred around the theme of ‘Embrace Equity’, Black-owned media, broadcasting, and entertainment company Tribe Urban Entertainment have announced a special ‘Empowered Women in Media’ panel for its Industry Link Up event series, which will take place at the University of Greenwich on Friday, March 31. Hosted by Kallure Consulting founder Niecy Mills, this special panel will be led by renowned artist manager for Wizkid and head of Starboy Entertainment, Jada Pollock, Atlantic Records’ director of marketing, Fay Hoyte, and director of repertoire strategy for Sony Music, Christel Kayibi.
Powered by the University of Greenwich, the special ‘Empowered Women in Media’ Industry Link Up event will be focused on promoting diversity, inclusivity, and gender parity in today’s entertainment industry and media landscape. Among its panel of speakers is none other than Jada Pollock, the renowned manager for global afrobeats superstar Wizkid. Having previously managed the likes of Chris Brown, Pia Mia, and Tinchy Stryder, Pollock began working with Wizkid in 2014, and has been instrumental in the Nigerian afrobeats legend achieving his biggest successes to date, and growing into one of Africa’s biggest and most influential superstars.
Joining Jada Pollock on the panel is Atlantic Records director of marketing Fay Hoyte, who began her career in the music industry with Ministry of Sound in 2004, where she worked her up to becoming Product Manager. Throughout an illustrious career that has spanned nearly two decades, Hoyte has worked with Virgin Records, where she looked after the likes of Emeli Sande, Naughty Boy, and Katy Perry, as well as Sony Music, working on campaigns for One Direction, Alicia Keys, and Justin Timberlake, among others, and Virgin EMI, handling campaigns for the likes of Rihanna, Jay-Z, and Justin Bieber. Hoyte recently joined Atlantic Records as their Director of Marketing, driving campaigns for KSI, Tion Wayne, Mahalia, Lizzo, and Burna Boy, among others.
Christel Kayibi rounds out the ‘Empowering Women In Media’ panel, and she is currently the Director of Repertoire Strategy for Africa in Sony Music’s continental Europe and Africa team, where she develops Sony’s rosters and network, and drives Sony’s entry into new markets across continents. Before joining Sony Music, Kayibi previously served as a Senior Legal and Business Affairs Manager for Columbia Records, as well as Global Legal Counsel for afrobeats icon Mr. Eazi, and Grammy Award-nominated producers Legendury Beatz. She began her legal career in Corporate Finance, working for the likes of Slaughter and May, White & Case, and Hunton Andrews Kurth, and advising multi-nationals such as British Airways, Unilever, Santander, and World Duty Free.
The ‘Empowered Women in Media’ panel was curated by Tribe Urban’s Operations and Marketing Director and Industry Link Up creator, Fred Lartey, who also manages Nadia Rose and Wohdee, and consults for the likes of Wizkid, DJ Spinall, and R2Bees, as part of his management and consultancy agency M2KE. The special Industry Link Up event will be hosted by Kallure Consulting founder and managing director Shanice Hoo Mills, also known as Niecy Mills. She comes with a background in public relations across international markets within the finance, technology, and consumer brands industries, and has also worked with the likes of Link Up TV, Notion Magazine, Evening Standard, D&AD, Vodafone, and Citi Bank.
