The Brixton Baytrees brothers are giving us something to vibe to with ‘Stitches’

Brixton’s BAYTREES serve up life-affirming soul jam ‘Stitches’ a soulful, life-affirming personal story of childhood nostalgia and loss that you can still vibe to. The band will take you on a journey lyrically and keep you dancing the night away. The visuals capture the infectiousness of Baytrees’ amazing live performances.

Baytrees is made up of brothers Mensah (songwriter, producer, lead singer, keyboard, guitarist and producer) and Kwame Hart (Bass Guitar), who are joined by friends Marcus Harris (drums and vocals) and Cujoe Ryan (guitarist and keys). Collectively, the members of the band have supported acts including The Sex Pistols, grime sensation Kano, and rock royalty The Rolling Stones. As songwriters, Baytrees have worked with legendary Italian artist Gianna Nannini on her album ‘La Differenza’ which reached number 2 in the Italian charts.

Lead singer and songwriter Mensah Hart says of the writing process: “Life is a massive inspiration for me to write songs. I could be singing about racial injustice, about a broken heart or having a fight, but the same rules apply – firstly, it has to have feeling, emotion and meaning. Writing and producing music is a form of therapy for me. In the studio is my happy place. Stitches is a song dedicated to my mother who sadly lost her battle with cancer last year. The songs are about my life, sneaking into clubs, selling pills as a teenager, navigating through adult hood, going to work drunk without any sleep and ultimately about never giving up on yourself and your dreams. The message has to be a positive one for me, there’s enough negativity out there and I don’t want to add to it.”
