The Latest MATERIEL Resort 2023 Collection is a Collaboration Between Two Students and the Brand’s Creative Director

MATERIEL presents the Resort 2023 collection, a collaboration amongst two students from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts and Tiko Paksashvili, MATERIEL’s Creative Director. The Resort 2023 collection is driven from the brand’s initiative to offer opportunities to young designers to develop and nurture their expertise, acting as an incubator for the emerging Georgian fashion scene. Presently, Tiko Paksashvili is the creative force behind MATERIEL.

The brand offers internship programs nearly every year, in diverse departments, and interacts with Georgian universities and foreign academies. The two students who benefited from this program, after 3 months of internship in the MATERIEL designer department, were given the mission to conceive and design a full-scale collection.

The students’ outstanding talent led MATERIEL to integrate them as junior designers, working hand in hand with the core creative team to develop the Resort 2023 collection. 60% of the collection is the outcome of their creative works.

MATERIEL Resort 2023 reflects a woman of hope. MATERIEL’s individuality is to perceive hope as an integral part of life’s philosophy – hope for light, harmony and strength.

The collection’s novelty lies in the eco leather in white color, which embodies a strong manifestation for light and faith. This white eco leather is also presented in the form of laser-cut techniques, a novelty for the brand. The geometricity of the tailoring is undoubtedly articulated in the diagonal-cut pieces, which intensely echoes the brand’s DNA linked to the strict Soviet aesthetics.

Distinctive fabrics are also combined to create singular looks, waist pocket belts and metal chains, all of which were imagined by the young generation of creatives, who are currently part of the MATERIAL design team. The collection is again distinguished by two-piece styles – also one of the brand’s signatures. This season, MATERIEL continues its determination towards sustainability.  92% of the Resort 2023 collection is crafted from eco-fabrics.
